Business liability insurance
Whatever business you choose, you’ll want to ask about the
company’s business liability insurance policies and the procedures
followed in the event of damage to your vehicle. You can even ask to
see the company’s business liability insurance certificate for
verification (and make sure to call their insurance company and confirm
that the policies are active). The bottom line is, any promises or
assurances made to you about the shipment of your car should be finalized
in writing. This will provide you with legal protection and support,
should damage occur. Business liability insurance never covers personal
items left inside the car.
Once you’re satisfied that you’ve selected a quality
auto transporter, you’ll sign a written contract and receive
a copy of this document. Keep this record in a safe place, as you will
need it in the event of damage to your vehicle. You will probably be
required to pay an initial deposit on the transport service, and then
pay the remainder upon the vehicle’s delivery at its destination.
